Silvana Pacheco is a visual artist, illustrator, graphic designer, and art director born in Barranquilla, Colombia in 1987. Between 2010 and 2013 she lived in Barcelona, Spain, the city where she studied a master’s degree in Graphic Design and Applied Illustration in the Escuela Superior de Imagen y Diseño de la Universidad Abad Oliva CEU. During those years she also did a Specialization in Scenography Design for Theater and Show at the Escola Massana. Center d’Art i Disseny at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and a Specialization in Design of Domestic Spaces at the Centro Universitario de Diseño. Throughout her career her work has been exhibited in individual and collective exhibitions and her illustrations and designs have been part of multiple publications.

The selection presented by Arte Original is made up of original artworks belonging to the genre of graphic arts. They are all recent works, created in 2021, and are made in mixed technique with fomi stamps, ink, and appliqués on paper.

Pacheco declares, regarding her work: “The recurring themes in my artistic proposal are identity, interpersonal relationship dynamics, emotions, inheritance, the repetition of patterns, the subconscious, the perception of reality, the oneiric world”. In the artist’s discourse and particularly in this selection, images and codes that tend to surrealism operate, we notice symbolic representations of what could be dreams or meditations. At the same time, it has a configuration close to the minimalist visual language. We observe in her images, not only a reduced color palette, but also a synthesis of elements, an aesthetic of the essential. In this way, her compositions are usually built from primary, geometric, or simple figures that are superimposed and arranged creating unsuspected combinations, erecting universes with their own codes.
