Ronald Ruiz (Venezuela, 1999) is a young artist who has started in the national artistic circuit with an outstanding presence, and who is having a rising projection that deserves to be followed.

Since 2018 he has been studying at the Universidad Nacional Experimental de las Artes (Unearte), in Caracas, thus channeling the construction of a language, which until now has been presented with coherence.

His mixed media work involves traditional materials such as oil and acrylic, applied with new media. In Iconos Pop/Contemporáneo, one of the series he is currently developing, brings together a repertoire of portraits of iconic characters from contemporary culture, such as Marilyn Monroe, Charles Chaplin and Andrey Hepburn, among others.

In these artworks he combines a realistic treatment of the image on abstract backgrounds. This same set of styles is also presented in the chromatic combination of the characters in black and white, on colored backgrounds, which creates a striking effect on the image. The chiaroscuro of the physiognomy highlights the volumes of the forms, a result that contrasts with the flat brushstrokes of color, accentuating the first and second planes of the composition with harmonious balance.

Since the eighties, Villalón has continued to have an active participation in individual and group exhibitions in various cities of Venezuela and the United States, and his work integrates important private collections. In 2010 the Universidad Centro Occidental Lisandro Alvarado (UCLA) of Barquisimeto awarded him an Honoris Causa Doctorate for his trajectory.
