Julián Villafañe – “Reflejos”
Julian Villafane was borned and lives in Merida, Venezuela. He was raised involved with nature and the environment, producing his own kind of art by working with wood. Then he was involved in another kind of art, the one that we know today, where he is able to paint abstract art in a non-conventional way. His art is described to be created in a whole different way that the books or galleries teach for his kind of art.
He started by including in his artwork a constant figure that is present in rural and urban areas, which is the ice cream seller. A person that with a litlle truck walks on the street to offer his products to everyone. That became a symbol in his paitings, when later he added new figures like colorful squares with people or animated object in the middle, using strong and thick brushes, with several materials and objects that surround him.
Currently, a main aspect of his painting is the texture-color. Sometimes he abandons the figurative painting to advocate to a complete abstract style, while in others, the figures are immersed and barely portrayed in the middle of a colorful and intense abstract landscape.
