Josefa Cordua
Josefa Cordua is a Chilean artist (1989). She has a degree in Arts from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile with a Certification in “Problems and trends in Architecture and the City.” Her artwork focuses mainly on painting as a medium and translates into an investigation around the concept of landscape. Experimentation and chance are present in her work as well as the gesture, the stain and the unforeseen pictorial results. Also its subsequent link to an image, which is related to the idea of landscape. “Landscape is a cultural construct, a mode of articulation that depends on cultural conventions. It is part of the mental dimension of the human being. It only exists in relation to an observing subject and, therefore, it is symbolic and full of meanings that are projected onto the physical space, which change according to the paradigms of each era”.
