Mario Lagos
Mario Lagos, Chilean painter (1959). He entered a degree in Visual Arts at the Universidad de Santiago (USACH) in 1979 and Advertising at the Escuela de Publicidad del Instituto del Pacífico in Santiago de Chile between 1980 and 1985. In 1985 he traveled to Spain, settled in Barcelona, and two years later he moved to Germany, where he made stays in Frankfurt and Berlin and had contact with teachers and students at the Hochschule der Kunste Von Berlin. There he devoted himself to experimentation with materials and conceptual art. In 1989 he traveled to Salzburg, Austria.
Upon his return to Chile in 1990 he founded the Taller Abierto de Plástica Social with the support of the Goethe Institut of Santiago.
heterogeneous times, has led him to the use of various pictorial media and the use of different pictorial techniques. The investigation and experimentation of the relationship between word and image crosses his pictorial evolution. Likewise, since 1999 he has developed artist’s books as unique pieces – an object that simultaneously intervenes the urban context and has made him participate in exhibitions and biennials in Europe and America. His work has been exhibited in Germany, France, Spain among others.
