Jhonny Fung (Venezuela, 1979) is an artist graduated from the Universidad Nacional Experimental de las Artes (Uneartes), in Caracas. Playfulness and recycling are identifying aspects of his work. The materials that he uses are rescued objects such as wood, PVC, plastics, metals, papers, etc., which he assembles on the support with a careful compositional order, of textures, sizes, thicknesses with rich color combinations.

The superposition, assembly and combination of elements on the surface, following an abstract or constructivist style, is assumed by the artist as the framework of extra-pictorial elements linked to affective situations. Under the guise of a playful proposal, the arrangement of scraps of papers or objects is a cathartic action of memories and emotions.

On this occasion, he is presented with a group of artworks, most of them made using the collage and acrylic technique. These elements are treated using the collage technique, sometimes combined with acrylic. The artist arranges them as a puzzle of colors, sizes and textures, in compositional balance with the support, creating a rich visual rhythm.

Since 2003, Jhonny Fung began to exhibit his work individually, and in 2012 he was the worthy of the Municipal Prize for Visual Arts at the XLI Salón Juan Lovera in Caracas. In recent years, already based in the United States, he continues with a work that maintains the artistic approaches that have defined his style.
