Graciela Ieger (1952) was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She trained at the Escuela de Artes Visuales Manuel Belgrano and Prilidiano Pueyrredón and at the Carlos Gorriarena workshop.

She participated in individual and collective exhibitions in Argentina and abroad. Her paintings are part of collections in Latin America, Europe, and the United States. She is the holder of multiple awards, including First Prize at the V Bienal de Pintura “Paloma Alonso” (2005), Third Prize in the Concurso-Salón “Belleza Intervenida” (2008).

Her production revolves around the representation of urban spaces, in which the play of light and shadow take on a leading role. Her figures, characters frozen in the movement of the present moment, project shadows that fill public spaces with an intimate density.

“Contemplating the work of Graciela Ieger is therefore witnessing a true transmutation of the spirit, it is having the rare privilege, even if only for a brief moment, of experiencing a spiritual elevation only comparable to the deepest metaphysical and religious experiences”, says the art critic Silvio Juan Maresca.

Prestigious critics and writers have written about her work, such as Rafael Squirru, Fermín Févre, Raúl Santana, Patricio Lóizaga, Albino Diéguez Videla, Alfredo Cernadas, Osvaldo Mastromauro, Alberto Giúdice; Julio Sanchez; Ana Aldaburu, Elsa Sábato, Pelusa Borthwick, Sofía Arden Quin, Silvia Ons, Juan Terranova, Silvio Juan Maresca and Damián Tabarovsky.
