The personal story of Enzo (Miguel Ángel Duarte, Venezuela, 1963), has a fundamental pillar in his mother, a woman passionate about art, whose influence was decisive in the path he decided to travel as an artist. He applied as a student at the Escuela de Artes Arturo Michelena in Valencia, but he did not pass the pre-selection tests. Then in 1981, when he was 17 years old, he went to Caracas in search of new opportunities. He tries to enter the Escuela de Artes Plásticas Cristóbal Rojas, but fails again in his attempt. With no options to study arts, he began looking for a job to survive. In 1994, he started working in a gallery. Although the stay in this place was brief, it was the springboard to enter the cultural world. Already in 1995 he decided to set up his own art workshop.
The early paintings of Enzo tended to be figurative, close to the Parisian style influenced by the magazines his mother bought him when he was a child. In 1996 he was invited to participate in an art exhibition to celebrate 50 years of a public institution, on the condition that he invited another painter to complete the room. Since he did not know any other artists, he chose to paint three completely abstract paintings himself, which he signed as Enzo. Surprisingly, the paintings of Miguel Ángel went unnoticed while those signed as Enzo caught the eyes of visitors. Since then he assumed the artistic name of Enzo and continued to carry out artworks under an abstract expressionist and figurative tendency. The quality of his work stands out for the strength of the textures, and the use of recycled materials and vibrant colors. His works have been exhibited in cities such as Panama, Madrid, Caracas, Miami and New York.
