Camila Valenzuela is a Chilean artist (1980). She has a degree in Art, Painting Mention from the Universidad Finis Terrae since 2001. She studies the structure of the portrait, the human figure and its registration in time. In an intimate way she appropriates a work structure directed from the collection of family images, specifically albums that have been digitized, forming part of an alterable image bank. These images are later returned to a different field of representation, painting, assuming the pictorial support as the end of this journey.
She looks for diagrams, patterns, or designs that represent certain rules or regulations to follow. Her artworks are structured from the superposition and repetition of layers that produce open shapes, irregular stains and interaction of colors.
She uses supports of different materials with a tendency towards papers and their various types (plastics, colored papers, architectural plans, graph paper, ornate paper). These serve as the background for her works, which are then intervened with oil, synthetic enamel, charcoal, etc.
