Ana Vanessa Urvina presents us a beautiful work about the jungle landscape and the colors of the Caribbean. Her proposal is a rich combination of the exuberance of the jungle, the chromatic luminosity of the tropics and the voluptuousness of the line, to represent the miracle of the abundance of nature.

She expresses herself through a free abstraction, curved, sinuous, undulating and moving lines. The leaves, the stems, the flowers, the branches are not perceived in reality in this free and structured way at the same time. This way of presenting forms brings us closer to the notion of the irregularity of nature in the middle of a plastically dynamic and organic compositional arrangement. The curved line becomes full in the varied lines and brushstrokes that reveal the hidden order of the composition nuanced by the atmosphere of the sky and the light. When we observe carefully, the internal structure of the golden section breaks out, in whose imbalance is the internal order of each element.

The techniques, materials and pigments that she uses also lead us to think about the multiplicity of forms and variety of planes of the jungle, in the coexistence of biospheres, of life in different planes, through collage, watercolor, color and crayons, arranged on canvas, wood or acrylic. Some of her pieces are faithful to the irregularity of sinuous edges. Color is another element, with which it is dissociated from a naturalistic presentation to make the landscape an emotional proposal.

The work of the brazilian Beatriz Milhazes and the north American Giorgia O’Keefe have had an important presence in her work. The first artist paints flowers that are repeated incessantly on large formats to achieve beautiful compositions, while O’Keefe paints unique or limited number flowers, with a modern sense.

Urvina has had a long training in the field of art. She is a graduate of the School of Arts of the Universidad Central de Venezuela and she was also a professor in that University. Since her move to the United States, she discovered herself as an artist and since then she has developed a work defined in its theme, concept and style.
